Agenda & Notes

  1. Volunteer Notetaker?
  2. Community updates (introductions, updates, implementations, plans, etc)
    • Version 1.1 release plan - Message from Neil Jefferies. Please add tickets. We will triage into 1.1 or 2.0 -- our goal is to have 1.1 not be a breaking change and that will be a big part of triaging.
    • Community extensions released - review of the 0006-flat-omit-prefix-storage-layout extension. This is something that Harvard has pulled together based on their migration. Thank you from Andrew Woods to Peter Winckles for approving the pull request for OCFL java. Would it make sense to have extension creators create fixtures related to their extension, it might then be that fixtures would have to model an entire repository rather than individual objects. While current validators don't validate against extensions, creating fixture objects might go a long way to making that happen. Harvard is using OCFL Java which already supports working with the S3 API. Harvard is migrating a little over 600TB into an S3 based OCFL store.
    • Is this time still ok? Peter Sefton will check with folks about 10am v. 8am (which is the current time).
  3. Zip per Version Storage - use-case #33 - that use case hasn't come up with Peter's colleagues, but he's going to check.
  4. Project Updates
    • HASS and Indigenous Research Data Commons. Looking to use OCFL to make things more portable and more mergeable over time. Want to make it easy to persist data. Uses OCFL and RO-Crate with Jupyter notebooks. Demo in October. Indigenous language notebooks, scanning and OCRing and putting them into an OCFL store. Challenge of interlinking OCFL objects, this will be done within the OCFL object (RO-Crate manifest). What are the goals for brining projects together (aka Peter's goal for Australian domination).
  5. Next community meeting: Wednesday September 8th 4pm GMT / 11am EDT / 8am PDT | Thursday September 9th 1am AEST
