Picture of Jaime

Jaime is a 26 year old single mother of 2 children, ages 7 and 10, and works at a supermarket where she makes roughly $40,000 a year. She lives in a quiet neighborhood in Queens where the neighbors know each other and there is a high level of intimacy. She loves to shop and likes to try new foods.

Jaime wakes up around 6:00am every morning to help her kids get ready for school. After dropping of her two kids at a school, she makes her way to work. During the summer vacations, Jaime always signs up her kids for summer camp in order to have time to focus on her work. Jaime likes to be involved in her kids’ lives and be fully aware of what they do. Jaime, therefore, tries to spend time with her kids after school to go over what they studied that day and help them do their homework. Jaime cherishes these moments because she believes it helps her bond with her kids. Jaime has gotten to know a few of her kids’ teachers well, whom she tries to keep in contact with to be up to date on her kids' progress in school.

However, it’s quite different during the summer. Compared to during the school year, Jaime feels that she is unable to be as involved in her kid’s activities since she isn’t quite aware of everything they do at camp. This worries her quite a bit. Also, the camp rotates counselors every summer so she finds it hard to have the same level of communication with his kids’ camp counselors ike she has with their teachers during the school year. Jaime wants to be sure that her kids are in safe hands at all times.
