Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Note II SGH I317M t0ltecan t0lte 7105 Root and Roms CM12.1 & DN4 - NonaSuomy/PuRe GitHub Wiki

Preparation

Caution

1.) This is only for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE SGH-I317M [t0lte, t0ltecan, etc] Some GT-7105 (LTE) ROMs work fine with it look out for GPS problems though and other bugs.

This custom ROM is only for the devices mentioned above [SGH-I317M]. Make sure that your model number matches the ones listed above. To do so, go to Settings > About Device on your device and see your model number. Flashing this ROM on any other device will result in bricking it so make sure that you meet this requirement first of all.

If you have a different device than the SGH-I317M but want to use this guide for the other LTE 7105 versions make sure you substitute the right files for the other LTE model phones, The other version of files will not be listed below but you will probably find them around the same servers.

Charging...

2.) Battery should be charged at least over 60%

Make sure that your battery is charged enough to complete the flashing process. In case your battery is low and your device goes dead during the flashing process, you may end up soft bricking your device as it won’t complete the flashing process.

Backup

3.) Backup everything!

Just to be on the safe side, you may consider backing up each and everything from your Android device. This is highly recommended so that in case anything goes wrong, you still have the access to all of your data and you can restore it immediately. You may backup everything as listed below:

Backup SMS Messages Backup Call Logs Backup Contacts Backup Media – Copy your files manually to your PC or Laptop. Titanium Backup – If already rooted, use Titanium Backup to backup all of your apps, system data and other important content. Backup Nandroid – You can do this using TWRP recovery. Backup EFS:

EFS Professional

Allows you to backup a Samsung devices partitions, Just to note the Data partition is around 11GB if full, which the app dumps to the internal storage first :/ http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/orig-development/tool-updated-09-06-14-efs-professional-t1308546

Download your device’s Partition ID Table (PIT). On the "Utilities" tab Under the "Download PIT" section Select "Save As…" Name the PIT file something like "sghi317m.pit", and click "Save". Then "Download" under the Download PIT section.

A message will let you know that the PIT file has been downloaded successfully. Once you see your PIT file and Heimdall states “Re-attaching kernel driver”, you have successfully downloaded your device’s PIT file.

Note: If you get failures in the Output section etc, after that restart recovery mode and try again.

Download partition images and device bin files specific for what you want to flash. In this example, we want to flash the full factory image.

I317MVLUDNF4_OYADNF4_RWC_Canada_Rogers_4.4.2.zip

Flash your target partitions:

Add each one to the Partitions (Files) list and double check each file is in the correct location.

5.)Now press "Start", you will see percentages scroll by as the files upload.

If your flash is successful you should see a full blue bar appear on your device screen under the green android.

Heimdall will let you know the process has succeeded in the Status box by re-attaching the kernel driver.

CACHE => cache.img RECOVERY => recovery.img

This is how you boot into recovery to check it after you have flashed/installed it: press and hold VOLUME UP + HOME + POWER buttons at the same time till you see the black screen with white 'Samsung Galaxy Note II' text, then you let go the buttons and it will boot into recovery mode, you should see the TeamWin background for TWRP and then the Option screen afterwards.

To make sure you are rooted, download root checker app from Play store.

After rooting, there is a chance that after reboot some message like 'SuperSU has stopped' will popup, DON'T worry read further...

Root with SuperSU (Read Below, flash with TWRP not Odin) http://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip

After you have rooted the device, there will be an app called 'SuperSU' among your apps, but its a older version of the app and it's 'SU binary' needs to be updated. Go to the Play store and under my apps search for 'SuperSU', it should state that it needs to be updated, do that and restart your phone. you can also flash this UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip (link above) in your TWRP Custom Recovery mode if you prefer so, both do the same. Configure the settings of SuperSU after the reboot as you like. For those who got the KNOX bootloader, while updating SU binary, SuperSU should ask you to deactivate KNOX, just accept and proceed.

Disclaimer

5.) Be careful!

The methods involved in flashing custom recoveries, ROMs and rooting your phone are highly custom and may result in bricking your device, and has nothing to do with Google or the device manufacturer that is SAMSUNG in our case. Also rooting your device will void its warranty and you will be no longer eligible for any kind of free device services by the manufacturers/warranty providers. In case of any mishap we may not be held responsible. If your device has the Knox counter on the bootloader, it will be tripped and you won’t be able to reset it ever. Follow these instructions to the letter to avoid any mishap or bricking. Make sure that whatever you do, you are doing it at your own responsibility.

Flash DN4 Rom

6.) Installation

How to install Ditto Note 4 ROM on Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7105, SGH-i317M [t0lte, t0ltecan, etc]

Before you flash this ROM, you need to make sure that you've read and applied all the guidelines explained above. Also, make sure that you’re currently running on latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

1.) Download the Ditto Note 4 LTE 2.2 ROM [http://www.electron-team.com/dn4n7105.html DN4_v2.2-LTE.zip] and place it on your phone’s SD card.

2.) Now boot into TWRP recovery, to do so, turn off your device and then turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home Button + Power Key. Select Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache.

3.) Select install > DN4_v2.2-LTE.zip file and flash it. The ROM will take a while to flash. Do not reboot your device once the installation is done. As soon as the ROM is flashed, go back to the main menu in TWRP Recovery and select wipe cache and dalvik cache in TWRP recovery.

Reboot now and setup your new ROM in order to enjoy the features of Galaxy Note 4 on your LTE Galaxy Note If the ROM isn't good enough to fulfill your needs or if something went wrong with the installation, you may flash stock firmware using only the rooting Odin guide above. Official builds here as stated above as well: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SGH-I317M

You can also try out CyanogenMod as well: wilson3q does a decent job here with CM12.1 for t0lte devices: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2/development-n7105/rom-unofficial-build-t3067695

Basically follow the same steps above, but ideally you should do a Factory Reset and FULL WIPE, if you switch between different Android ROMs. (Samsung) TouchWiz => CM12.1 (Based on Lollipop 5.1) etc.

Unlock Modem for any carrier

To unlock your carrier on the Note 2 you require an android build equal to or lower than 4.1.1:

Test out another SIM Card (Wait a few mins for it to pick up the SIM provider data configuration) if it seems to be working, you can now flash your updated modem via the heimdall process above with RADIO option.
