Phone-style layout: shell header, message list, composer; frosted or wallpaper background behind a rounded panel.
Root tabs: Chat list, Profile, Settings; pushed pages (world chat, whispers, settings sub-pages, player profiles) animate with the global navigation style (slide or zoom).
Every entry point into a pushed page follows the same animation setting, including banner clicks and avatar menus; during world <-> private transitions the whole chat page (messages, reply bar, composer, scrollbar, jump-to-latest) moves as one layer while the header and frame stay fixed.
Messages
Bubbles: yours on the right, others on the left, with real player names and round skin avatars.
Quote replies, @ highlights, time dividers, system capsules.
Repeated messages merge with a counter; same-sender runs within five minutes group tightly.
Rich text: colours, underlines, click and hover events; /tell, coordinates, FTB accept/deny and links are clickable.
History folding: the list shows the newest 100 messages; a "load earlier" capsule reveals 100 more per click, per conversation.
Images
[CICode](/NoWordz/AtomChat-Mod/wiki/CICode) images render at their original aspect; GIFs loop inside the bubble; transparent PNGs show the panel behind them.
Upload by picker, drag-drop or Ctrl+V; right-click saves the original; left-click opens the full-size preview.
With AtomChat on the server, images are hosted on the server (atomchat-media: links, chunked delivery over the game connection, no HTTP port); otherwise they fall back to a third-party host.
Outside the panel the vanilla HUD shows a green [Image] and a blue [Quote] instead of raw codes.
Whispers, notifications and pokes
Whispers run over /msg with per-conversation drafts and scroll positions; the conversation list orders public → online → recent offline with unread badges.
Being @mentioned, quoted or whispered pops a banner at the top of the panel; clicking it jumps to the message (the banner dismisses only once the jump lands). Type prefixes use HUD semantic colours while names and bodies keep their original rich-text colours.
Double-click an avatar to poke; remote pokes arrive over the companion channel and shake the avatar.
Appearance
Nine theme presets including the translucent Dusk and Mint; every interface colour is configurable with live previews.
Custom wallpaper, profile banner and avatar, all cropped in-game and hosted locally.
Settings home is a 2×2 tile grid (Appearance / Chat / Privacy & blocking / About); every option applies and persists instantly.
Chat history can optionally be saved per server/world and restored on rejoin, with a retention window.
Server-side extras (optional install)
Media hosting with dedup, size caps and retention trimming.
Server packs: stickers, quick phrases, server icon and MOTD sync to joining clients (sha256-verified, delta-only).
/atomchat test banner|poke debug commands (require Debug mode; single-player always allowed, otherwise OP level 2) to exercise banners and pokes without a second client.
