Why enable Large Address Aware?

By default, WoW.exe can only access up to 2 GB of RAM, limiting performance and stability, especially with many addons or heavy gameplay. Enabling Large Address Aware (LAA) lets the client use up to 4 GB of RAM, improving stability and reducing crashes and freezes.

Important Note

It is not advised to use this application if you have less than 3 GiB of RAM.

How to enable Large Address Aware

  1. Download, unzip and open the Large Address Aware tool: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/

  2. Open the WoW.exe executable you want to patch:

    • Click the "..." button to browse and select your WoW.exe.
    • Alternatively, drag and drop the WoW.exe file onto the gray text box.
  3. Do not check the box (this box removes the patch if checked, so leave it unchecked to apply the patch, no need for any action!).

  4. Click Save to commit the changes and enable Large Address Aware.
