Listen, none of us are trained game developers. We’re just a bunch of friends making games and figuring things out as we go. We don't know what the fuck is going on. So I can't stress this enough, don't take this too seriously and pretty much everything is subject to change. I also encourage everyone to take this on with stride, If you are not feeling it for a bit, then take a break.
This Page will change in the middle of Febuary and then will be found in the Archive

Welcome to the Team

Right now, we're focusing on Scraprunners Game Design Document as our first official game. It all started when Chris, Jake, and Ryan worked on Scraprunners Game Design Document for a Game Jam in S&box (Source 2). However, we quickly grew frustrated with Source 2 due to its lack of features and poor documentation. The experience was so frustrating that we decided to switch gears entirely and move to Unreal instead. And now, here we are, actually making a game!

Welcome to Obsidian

This Obsidian Vault is where we keep it all—project ideas, useful resources, and monthly check-ins to help us stay on track (or at least try to). It’s all pretty casual, and the goal is to learn, create, and have a good time doing it.

Take a look around, throw in your ideas, and let’s make something fucking awesome.

Tour

00 - Archive

This is where we’ll stash anything old or no longer needed. Gotta keep the old stuff somewhere. Consider this the junk drawer of our project notes, resources, ideas we’ve moved on from. It’s also where we’ll store any static content for the page, like an overview of all notes and tasks or our templates.

01 - Projects

All our game projects live here. I’m a big believer in thinking ahead, so we’ll be adding ideas for future games, even while we’re still working on the current one. No pressure to dive into them just yet, but it’s good to have something to think about down the line.

02 - Resources

We’re all pretty new to this, so this section is all about learning and growing together. This is where we’ll share anything useful that can help us improve our skills and make better games. Whether it’s videos, text tutorials, or little tricks we figure out along the way, this is the spot to drop them. We’ll be covering a range of topics, including Blender for 3D modeling and animation, Unreal] for building and refining our games, and Coding tips to make everything work smoothly. Whether it’s a cool shortcut, a workflow improvement, or just something that made our lives easier, throw it in there

03 - Monthly

We’ll working on a monthly check-in basis to help keep things moving. You’ll set your own goals, and Chris will help keep things on track. Nothing too serious—life happens, and if something doesn’t get done, we’ll just roll it into the next month. No stress.

04 - Rough Notes

This is where you can quickly jot down any idea that comes to mind. It could be anything, whether it's a potential coding solution, a piece of lore, or just a rough concept you want to explore later. Don’t worry about polishing it up, just get it down here and we’ll figure it out later.

Some tips on using Obsidian:

Anyone can feel free to add to this below if you find a useful tool or trick.

  1. On the top right you can open up your side panel and click and drag the git tab to the bottom right so it stays out the way but always handy. (you can do this for any tab)

  2. CTRL + Z is the undo button and CTRL + SHIFT Z is the redo button, but it only works in the on the this window. The window used for typing and reading the documents. It will not work on anything else.

  3. When organizing folders or files, keep in mind that this works just like a Windows folder structure. The hierarchy you use here should mirror how you’d structure it on your computer. That’s why you’ll see descending numbers for items I want to keep fixed in the folder layout.

  4. If you want your link to look like something else that isn't the link itself. Reference this on how to do that: Scraprunners Game Design Document
