Liquid Food System (WIP) - Niwatori401/RimRound GitHub Wiki

Summary

In your quest for the ever expanding, you may find that large pawns' appetites and the ability for them to feed themselves drift further apart. Or, perhaps you want to repurpose human flesh into soylent green. If either of those sound pertinent to your situation, you may be interested in the liquid food system.

There are four crucial components for this system. You don't need all in each category, but you need at least one from each*. The four categories are as follows:

  • Production
  • Transport
  • Storage
  • Extraction/Use

Additionally, there are other components that do not fall into there categories and are not strictly necessary for a functioning system. These fall into the other category.

*Hypothetically one could forego using transports if all other components were adjacent.

Production

There is currently only one device that produces liquid food - the food processor. You can find it in the production tab.

Food Processor

The food processor, when powered and connected to a valid network, will consume food in it's hopper and convert it to liquid food. A food processor requires either a vanilla hopper or an XL hopper to function. There is a gizmo when you click on a built food processor that will place the blueprint for you.

Much like all other food in with RimRound, liquid food has a nutrient density associated with it. The nutrient density (and total value) is dictated by what you put through the food processor. You can increase this value after the fact with the nutrient distillery.

Transport

There are two items of note in the transport category. The food pipe and the food valve.

Food Pipe

The food pipe is the basic component required to connect machines. They work much like power wires in vanilla. Additionally, Food can be transferred normally through all machines and storages except the nutrient distillery.

Food Valve

Normally, food is inserted and withdrawn evenly across a net. If you want to have more fine grained control of this behavior, you can set up food valves. These can be toggled to cut or enable flow across them. When on, they function exactly like a food pipe.

Storage

At least one food storage is necessary for the food net to function. Food storages come in three sizes: small, large and massive. Their function is the same, only their storage volume differs.

Name Volume
Small Storage 50L
Large Storage 100L
Massive Storage 1200L

Extraction/Use

There are three machines that can extract food from the network. They are the food faucet, autofeeder and advanced autofeeder.

Food Faucet

This device serves as a location where any pawn can, at will, walk up to and eat from. This is useful for both pawns who you are trying to fatten as well as for general convenience. Requires power to function.

Auto feeder

This device (and the advanced version) are the most forceful approach to keeping a pawn fed. The primary use case is for keeping an immobile fed - and growing. Once attached, the autofeeder will do one of four things, depending on its mode. The mode can be cycled by clicking on the autofeeder, then clicking on its gizmo. The function of each mode is detailed below.

Lose

In this mode, pawns will be fed just enough to keep their nutrition above starving, but below hungry. This will cause them to be quite unhappy, but lose weight over time.

Maintain

Pawns on this setting will be fed only as much nutrition as they need, resulting in very little, if any, weight gain.

Gain

This mode causes pawns to constantly have food in their stomach. This will lead to rapid weight gain.

Force Gain

Similarly to "Gain", this mode will ensure they always have food in their stomach. However, unlike "Gain", this mode will keep them as full as possible to forcibly expand their stomach. This will not result in faster gain, however.

Both the autofeeder and advanced autofeeder can only be attached to a pawn that is in a bed, though they don't need to be asleep. Pawns will be restrained until the device is removed.

Advanced Autofeeder

This device functions almost identically to the autofeeder, but requires less power and gives a small recreation boost to its user. It also never breaks down.

Other

In this category are devices which don't fit into any other group and are not required for a functioning system.

Nutrient Distillery

The nutrient distillery is able to, over time, change the nutrient density of a food network. It has an input (blue) and an output (red). You can choose to wire the input to the same net as the output, which will cause it to change the density of the system toward a target density. Density is expressed here as nutrition / volume. As such, a higher density means more fattening.
