Creating Quests

1. Build the Quest Line in FTB Quests

  • Put the quest line in the correct chapter.
  • Use one quest per stage, all with the same base name and a different number:
    • Quest Name 1, Quest Name 2, Quest Name 3, etc
  • Use a Custom task for stages where the player needs to talk to an NPC.
  • Name each task a short description.
  • Make every stage depend on the previous stage.
  • Add rewards to the final stage.

2. Build the Dialogue in CustomNPCs

  1. Build the dialogue in CustomNPCs
  • Global -> Dialogues -> create a category for the quest line.
  • Create one dialogue for each NPC-related stage.
  • Edit each dialogue:
    • Copy quest ID from FTB Quest UI via right click
    • Edit Dialogue
    • Availability options -> Select FTB Quest -> paste its ID -> Active.
    • Dialogue options: Command Block runs a command; Dialogue opens another dialogue; Close ends it.

Complete a Talk / Custom Task

ftbquests change_progress @dp complete <quest_id>

Submit an FTB Item Task

customnpcsftbquests submit_items @dp <quest_id>

3. Assign the Dialogue to the NPC

Open the NPC's Dialogue tab and add the dialogue category you created.

  • Task type: Custom
  • Task name: Talk to Bob
  • ID: 101
