24_1:Objective

Set up a monthly budget in Azure Cost Management and configure email alerts at defined spending thresholds.

  • Azure role: Owner or Cost Management Contributor on the subscription or resource group
  • Access to Azure Portal

24_3: Navigate to Budgets

  1. Log into the Azure Portal

  2. Search for Cost Management + Billing

  1. Scope: Verify it shows the correct subscription or resource group

  3. Time period: Select Monthly, Quarterly or Annually (choose what suits your billing cycle)

  1. Start and Expiration dates: Set as required

  2. Budget amount: Enter a numeric value

4. Create the Budget

  • Azure evaluates budgets daily and sends emails within ~1 hour of threshold breach.

  • To view past alerts:

    • Go to Cost Management + Billing โ†’ Budgets โ†’ select your budget โ†’ Cost alerts
