24_1:Objective
Set up a monthly budget in Azure Cost Management and configure email alerts at defined spending thresholds.
24_2: โ Prerequisites
- Azure role: Owner or Cost Management Contributor on the subscription or resource group
- Access to Azure Portal
24_3: Navigate to Budgets

Log into the Azure Portal

Search for Cost Management + Billing
- Under your scope (Subscription or Resource Group), select Budgets โ + Add
24_4: Define Budget Scope & Period
- Scope: Verify it shows the correct subscription or resource group
- Name your budget (e.g. โAzure_2025 Budgetโ)
- Time period: Select Monthly, Quarterly or Annually (choose what suits your billing cycle)

Start and Expiration dates: Set as required

Budget amount: Enter a numeric value

Choose Type: Actual or Forecast (can configure both)

4. Create the Budget

Azure evaluates budgets daily and sends emails within ~1 hour of threshold breach.

- Go to Cost Management + Billing โ Budgets โ select your budget โ Cost alerts
