senior staff - NicheInterests/mistfunk GitHub Wiki

Traditionally, senior staff were an artgroup's functionaries, engaging in recruitment, mentorship, distribution and overall facilitation. (A literal reading suggests they were merely long-tenured members, but over time some members prove themselves to be more invaluable than others -- not all long-serving members are necessarily senior nor staff 8) From the outside, an artpack might appear to be primarily informed by the personality of the group's leader (usually but not always its founder) -- the one writing the infofiles and usually injecting the [SAUCE] metadata, zipping up the final "gold" version of the artpack's files and uploading it to go live on their WHQ (the WHQ's SysOp, incidentally, and the coordinator of the group's [echomail] network could also be considered to be important senior staff positions) but behind the scenes other members (department heads, for instance) could quietly be going about critical but subtle internal duties that you'd never realise from looking at the final product.

(That ideal above is all well and good, BUT commonly the "senior staff" (regrettably commonly abbreviated "SS") section of a group's [memberlist] was also an excellent place for an artgroup to stash distinguished and renowned deadwood that a group still wanted to claim involvement with despite their failure to represent in the artpack releases with their actual art. Often it could be more truthfully read as "alumni" or "people whose names you recognize who you will never again see releasing art in our artpacks, but remember how much fun we used to have with them?")
