Turner the Worm - NicheInterests/mistfunk GitHub Wiki

To a certain demographic of UK lads who were reliably tuned into regular updates to Channel 4's video games-themed [Digitiser] [teletext] magazine, its pseudo-mascot Turner the Worm was a bonafide generational hero. Turner would often go on serial adventures with his companion Glug the Slug, often thwarted by technological antagonist Otto Matik. The teletext comics featuring his offbeat adventures ran on a basically weekly basis from 1993 through 2002, after which its writer Paul "Mr. Biffo" Rose gave the character a turbulent send-off during his own departure by nominally obfuscating obscene imagery in a service that was ostensibly targeted at kids.

Many years later, after learning about this teletext phenomenon well after the fact from the activities of Illarterate (and especially Horsenburger), Cthulu wrote a time travel comeback story ("Turn, Turn, Turn!") for Turner during the Covid-19 shutdowns, where old 2020 Turner is sent in time and tries to change history to avoid the obscene send-off and avert his own cancellation. Many Digi fans contributed illustrations (even Mr. Biffo drew one!) and we released it as the MTURNER1 artpack in 2022, giving it an alternate release as well as an animatic (with unused Onyx [Sonic Equinox] tracks providing a soundtrack) in the 2022 [Flashparty] demoparty animation compo, where it won 3rd place.
