The Artscene Dictionary: Shorthand, Slang, and Acronyms A compilation of definitions by many fine individuals

Inspired by ESR's work on the Jargon File / Hacker's Dictionary and any number of FAQs published by UseNet newsgroups to help outsiders make sense of their byzantine cultures, around the turn of the century (circa 2004), a prime mover in the underground PC artscene (who has asked to remain anonymous) began getting our community-specific vernacular documented in one place, for the benefit of newcomers and posterity, to help make sense of our activities and the criticism and discussion around them.
