"Jimmy Knocks — 10:15 AM Sorry for sounding like a noob, but does #mistigram mean those people are no longer with us?

Cthulu — 10:59 AM Mistigram is just the Mistigris Instagram. This is what you get when you try to be clever!"

Mistigris + Instagram = Mistigram. Because at one time posts to Instagram could automatically syndicate to other platforms such as Twitter and Tumblr (and the then-free IFTTT service would bump posts along to the rest of them), it was the sun source of our regular social media postings, and consequently reposts to other networks would still retain references to IG usernames and the phrase Mistigram's reference to the IG platform*. IG no longer syndicates as extensively (as of 2026, it will reliably repost to Facebook and Threads only) and ConsoleJockey devised a clever Mistigram program allowing me to easily multi-post entries to several services simultaneously -- the name stuck, even if the former centrality of the Instagram platform to it is now irrelevant.

*The only exception to that convention is Mastodon, which gets the Mistigram prefix to every post manually adjusted to a Mistodon one. We could also call our Discord Miscord, but isn't this little wordplay trick already getting a little insufferable?
