In homage to the retroactive rebranding of Coca-Cola Classic in the wake of the stir caused by New Coke in 1985, the first-run activities of the Mistigris computer arts collective, from 1994 through to their final gasps in 2000 leading to radio silence up to their 2014 reunion, have been retroactivelly dubbed the "Mist Classic" period, to better usefully delineate which artists and art styles you might expect to see representing in a given artpack collection.

In a nutshell, Mist Classic releases might be more expected to contain, for instance, ANSI art illustrations and .MOD [tracker] music files, while later Mist packs would be more likely to include eg. fusion bead mosaics, sketchbook scans, pixelart and digital music in .MP3 format. (How did he manage to avoid mentioning teletext there?) Mist Classic had quite a firmer footing in area code 604. As the revived Mistigris (which Cthulu has been gradually trying to steer towards an anachronistic rebranding as "mISTFUNK" -- a nickname itself dating to the late Mist Classic period) closed in on the second 5 years of its first decade post-revival, it finally started finding its way toward attracting textmode art again and began having its releases' contents more closely resembling those of the Mist Classic period. Perhaps further nickanes will be needed to better differentiate the collective's distinctive epochs.
