In the context of the Mistigris computer arts collective, we often use "Mist" as shorthand for the whole venture, when "Mistigris" or even "Mistfunk" are just too loquacious.

That said, within our '90s artscene context, we were not the only Mist around, and if you saw promos for Mist included in other crews' artpacks, you couldn't necessarily assume that the artists were celebrating us.

BBSes: circa 1995, Vertigo of Bleach ran a bulletin board service named Mist (at 619-727-7843). Also that year, we see something promoted as "Kaos' Mist". The following year, a BBS named Mist is promoted, opped by Snoop and Dr. Brain.

In 2002, there was an artist active in the Moonflow and Spiral crews under the name of Mist.

Of course, "Mistigris" has plenty of namespace conflict also, but quite a bit less within the computer underground.
