JPETSCII - NicheInterests/mistfunk GitHub Wiki

Don't be fooled: JPETSCII is the [PETSCII]-inspired character set curated by JP ("Jean-Paul") LeBreton for default use in his [PLAYSCII] text art editor, including many PETSCII characters and others that were never part of PETSCII. It inherits the JP at the start of its acronym from Jean-Paul's name, not from Japan -- there were alternate katakana and kanji character sets for Japanese-sold PETs, VIC-20s, and C64s, but JPETSCII is not Japanese PETSCII.

While JPETSCII does feature some characters included in the PETSCII character set, PLAYSCII lacks certain constraints imposed on their use on Commodore hardware, and you cannot make designs in PLAYSCII that are useable in PETSCII situations (at least, not without first using Wil's AMSCII C64 Exporter. But I digress.)
