Starting in 1996 through 1997-1998, when its debut (and only) issue actually dropped, Silent Knight and his (unaffiliated) colleague Blood Angel organised tirelessly in support of the Dream Factory ("Dfact") anthology of independent [small-press] comix, inspired by Dave Sim's Cerebus and Eastman and Laird's TMNT (and, optimistically, [Image Comics].) They hoped to find contributors in the Mist Classic sphere (and beyond, running promos in our artpacks) and ultimately did publish among other works by Mist-unrelated contributors, an introductory "Rainclouds" piece by Bonemouse (at that time, not yet tapped by Mist -- only the dedicated cover illustrator of Cthulu's high school newspaper [The Ideograph]) and a story by Spirit Wolf, which was included in the MIST2000 artpack collection long after the fact.

The print copy of Dream Factory was made in the smallest quantities possible (SK remarked their contact at the printshop complained that the size batch they printed barely gave him time to turn the presses on, then quickly turn them off again) on the cheapest paper stock available, which hampered its reception. Copies of a black-and-white comic printed on newsprint-grade paper didn't exactly fly off the shelves, and like with the VHS tapes containing his Vancouver Film School computer animation demo reel, boxes of unsold copies haunted its publisher for years. Cthulu gave Dream Factory a shout-out from the mainstage at a summer 1998 [Living Closet] performance at Malkin Bowl.

Silent Knight's own "DreamSpace", a foundational document omitted from the final publication due to space considerations, was included in Hallucigenia's HAL0798 artpack collection, and was reprinted in MIST1119 as a memorial. Perhaps someday the comic will be reprinted by [Misprint Manuscripts].
