From 2020 through 2022, Al's Geek Lab set out to update Jason Scott's 2005 BBS: The Documentary, which was primarily historical in scope, by recording interviews intended to illustrate the living traditions of the ongoing BBS hobby and illustrate how things had developed in the intervening decade and a half, hopefully luring some fresh meat into the BBSes of the 21st century. He achieved this in an eight-part documentary called Back to the BBS. Cthulu was interviewed extensively for the final, underground artscene-themed episode, though bits of this interview wound up in numerous episodes when no authorities for other computer subcultures volunteered themselves to speak on the subject.
