BBS: The Documentary - NicheInterests/mistfunk GitHub Wiki

8-part 2005 documentary, distributed on DVD, directed by Jason Scott. Among other topics, there are episodes about [FidoNet], the underground PC [artscene], and the [h/p/a] side of the underground.

Some of this territory was revisited 15 years later in the Back to the BBS documentary series by Al's Geek Lab.

Cthulu intended to set up an interview with Jason Scott when he was gathering stories to populate the documentary with, but it would have been unrelated to the artscene -- the story he intended to tell was that of the rise and fall of Al's House of Meats, the anarchic [TABnet] BBS in area code 604 where all users were granted SysOp access... and to think out loud about how 604's BBS scene was so unusually large and lasted so unusually long. (Jason Scott suffered problems with his rental car while tooling around the Pacific Northwest and wound up never making it to Vancouver, so that story could not be told at that time.)
