Internet Security Glossary, Version 2 (2007)

RFC 2828(2000)のセキュリティ用語集に大幅な改訂と大幅な拡張をしている。

補足(この用語集の使いどころ): RFC 4949 は
**「IETF の文書を読むときの共通語彙」**を定めたもので、
定義そのものより **どの用語を使うべきか(推奨 / 非推奨)**を
示している点に価値がある。
下記「定義タイプ」の I / N / O / D がその判定にあたる。
実務では、セキュリティ設計書や RFC を読んでいて
「この語はどういう意味で使われているのか」を確かめたいときに引く。
大文字と小文字を区別せず、辞書順にソートされる。

補足(4 タイプの覚え方): 頭文字ではなく
「使ってよいか」の 2 軸で整理すると分かりやすい。
インターネット起源 外部起源 推奨 I N 非推奨 (該当なし) O これに、時間軸で外れたものとして **D(廃止)**が加わる。
執筆時に迷ったら I か N のものを使い、O は避けるが原則になる。

一部の用語は、インターネット以外の機関によって発行された定義を持っている。
この定義を「N」とマークし、インターネット文書での使用を推奨している。 -
その他の用語には、IDOC には不適切または不適切な定義がある。
- 例えば、定義が古くなったり狭すぎたりする場合。
- この場合、
- より慎重な表現に置き換えるか、説明を明確にする。
