Prototyping

In the exploration phase we thought about how we can build a solution for our idea. For this, we designed a prototype with a mock up.

With our MVP we built a learning prototype in which the cup identifies the coffee profile.

Mock up

To realize our idea an identification on the coffee machine is required. We came up with the idea to bring a QR-code on the cup. For this, we develop a Brewbot-Portal where you can login and create your personl coffee profile. Then you can create a QR-code, download this and glue it on the cup. Now the cup is able to identify the profile. We fixed a smart device to the coffee machine that has a camera and a QR-code scanner. Then, when we go to the coffee machine we let the smart device identify the cup and display the coffee profile. If the profile is transferred and activated in the coffee machine, the problem will be solved.

Explore

In this step, our Mission is to find out whether this approach solves the problem. We built the mock up. For this we needed the following:

• Brewbot Portal
• Coffee machine
• Cup
• QR-Code
• Smart Device with an QR-Code scanner

After we built the mock up we demonstrated the mock up to different test users and let them try. We noted their feedback and modified the mock up. The modification included no additional feature, but little changes like where to locate the camera.

After our exploration, we found out that this approach would solve the problem.
