Some thoughts around the whole creation process:

1. API's are not trivial to do successfully.
2. There is no right or wrong. Just successful and unsuccessful and both of these path comes with their own share of rewards.
3. Just exposing resources with CRUD is creating a web enabled database/persistence interface. Tight coupling is so 1960's.
