Regulatory Training - CITI Program
Before working with data, you are required to go through Mount Sinai's research training.
-
Please use your Sinai credentials to create an account on CITI at the link below: https://about.citiprogram.org/en/homepage/.
Tips for Setup- Click Register -> Log in through my institution and use your Sinai credentials to do so.
- In the first set of setup questions, it will ask if you’ve taken the basic course — Please answer “No” (Otherwise it will only give you a refresher which isn’t correct).
- Everyone should answer “Investigator/Research Staff” for the purposes of this training.
- IF YOU’VE COMPLETED CITI AT ANOTHER INSTITUTION: Instructions to affiliate existing CITI accounts with Icahn School of Medicine can be found here. If you have an existing account that is affiliated with another institution, please add ISMMS as an affiliated institution rather than creating a new account. Any previously completed modules that overlap with the ISMMS requirements will not be required again, but all new ISMMS requirements must be completed.
-
Once you’ve created your account, you must complete the following courses:
- Investigator Research Staff Basic Course
- HIPAA for Research Update
- Data Security and HIPAA training
- Rigor, Reproducibility, and Ethical Behavior in Biomedical Research
- Good Clinical Practice (if applicable)
-
CITI Training Profiles
- To ensure CITI training is transferred to RUTH (Mount Sinai's IRB system), your CITI profile must include your Mount Sinai Life# and list a MSHS email as the primary email address
- CITI Program > Log on > Profile > Update Institutional Profile > Employee ID #> Enter Your Mount Sinai Life # > Enter Your MSHS email as the Primary email
IRB System - RUTH Account
RUTH is cloud-based so VPN /Tunnel is not required to gain access.
- Account access/activation
- Before getting involved in a project, you are required to have your RUTH Account activated. Visit ruth.mssm.edu to sign in using your Mount Sinai email and Network ID password.
- If your RUTH account is not active, please reach out to Technical Support using the following email address: [email protected]
- Upload CVs
All members of the study team must upload their CV in RUTH under My Profile. For detailed guidance, refer to The RUTH Guide. Please note that the uploaded CV must list the current position held at MSHS.
Data Access
After the 1:1 meeting, you will be assigned to an existing project or you will start your own project.
To be part of MSCII umbrella IRB, please complete the MSCII Onboarding Form to be added to the MSCIC Directory and start data access process. In order to obtain access to any data, you will need to complete the financial conflict of interest (FCOI) form in Sinai Central(https://sinaicentral.mssm.edu/). You will receive an email notification to complete the FCOI form when it is ready. Once you have provided your onboarding documents and signed the FCOI, access to an appropriate datasets will be granted. Data is stored on the Minerva compute cluster.
If you need assistance or guidance to submit your own IRB, please refer to Mount Sinai PEAK IRB UNIVERSITY or contact Huei Hsun.
