FieldMaps Basemap (admin needed to install)

-If at any point during the process below a pop-up asks if you want to allow de-bugging, allow it. For me it has popped up at different points in the process, sometimes it will pop-up but hide behind different windows, look out for it-

  1. Download the basemap from the network: \ent-gis\Imagery_Aerial\Tile_Packages (Hydro_Basemap.tpkx) save it somewhere easily accessible on the field device.
  2. Download android SDK platform tools here. Save it somewhere easily accessible.
  3. Open the extracted folder and double click “adb.exe”. Copy the file path of the folder it’s sitting in. You may see a pop-up asking if you’ll allow de-bugging, allow it.
  4. Open Windows Subsystem for Android and make sure developer mode is turned on if it isn’t already. Take note of the IP address.
  5. Open the command prompt as an administrator, cd to the folder you copied. (Type "cd [folder path]") Hit enter.
  6. Type “adb connect [IP address from WSA]” , hit enter. It will say failed to authenticate but that’s ok.
  • Errors? Try the following:
    • Make sure developer mode is on (Windows Subsystem for Android needs to be open during this whole process).
    • Double click the adb.exe again.
    • Look around for the debugging pop-up in case you missed it.
    • Close the command prompt, open it and try again.
    • Restart the machine and run through the above steps again (sans downloading).
    • Make sure you're typing "adb" and not "abd".
  1. In file explorer, navigate to the tile package, select it and copy its file path.
  2. In the command prompt, type “adb push [file path of the tile package you just copied] /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.esri.fieldmaps/files/basemaps", hit enter. CommandPrompt
