Output Variable Name Meaning
Overall summary
diseaseDuration Number of days from first infection until no more disease is present in the population.
outbreakDuration Number of days from first infection until no more disease is present in the population and all control activities are finished.
Exposures
expcUDir Cumulative number of exposures by direct contact. Every farm-to-farm contact adds 1 to this count. Repeated contacts to the same farm continue to add to the count. Note that not every exposure will transfer infection.
expcUInd Cumulative number of exposures by indirect contact.
expcUAir Cumulative number of exposures by airborne spread.
expcUAll Cumulative number of exposures, total for all routes of spread.
Infections
infcUDir Cumulative number of new infections caused by direct contact. Note that this will usually be lower than expcUDir, for 3 reasons: 1) not all exposures are adequate, 2) sometimes adequate exposures go to immune farms, and 3) sometimes multiple adequate exposures go to the same farm on the same day, but they result in only 1 new infection.
infcUInd Cumulative number of new infections caused by indirect contact.
infcUAir Cumulative number of new infections caused by airborne spread.
infcUAll Cumulative number of new infections, total for all routes of spread.
Detection
detOccurred A boolean (0 or 1) value saying whether detection occurred during the simulation.
firstDetection Day of first detection.
detcUClin Cumulative number of detections by observing clinical signs. Every farm where disease is detected adds 1 to this count.
detcUTest Cumulative number of detections by lab test.
detcUAll Cumulative number of detections, total for all means of detection. This output may be also referred to as “number of IPs” (infected premises).
Surveillance
trcUp Cumulative number of contacts that could potentially be discovered by traces.
trcU Cumulative number of contacts that were discovered by traces.
tstcU Cumulative number of farms that were tested.
Destruction
destrOccurred A boolean (0 or 1) value saying whether destruction occurred during the simulation.
firstDestruction Day of first destruction.
deswUDaysInQueue On each day, the number of farms currently in queue for destruction is added to this count.
deswUMax The maximum number of farms that were in queue for destruction at once.
deswUMaxDay The day on which the maximum number of farms in queue was reached.
deswADaysInQueue On each day, the number of animals in all the farms currently in queue for destruction is added to this count.
deswAMax The maximum number of animals that were in queue for destruction at once.
deswAMaxDay The day on which the maximum number of animals in queue was reached.
deswUTimeAvg Average wait time for destruction.
deswUTimeMax Maximum wait time for destruction.
descU Cumulative number of farms destroyed.
descA Cumulative number of animals destroyed.
Zones
zoneArea Area (in square kilometers) covered by the zone.
zonePerimeter Perimeter (in kilometers) of the zone.
unitsInZone Count of farms in the zone.
animalsInZone Count of farms in the zone.
unitDaysInZone On each day, the number of non-destroyed farms in the zone is added to this count.
animalDaysInZone On each day, the number of living animals in the zone is added to this count.
