6.5 MOTOR AND BATTERY SIZING OF THE SYSTEM
- DC Motor
- Total Weight=0.25kg
- Co-efficient of friction between acrylic sheet and Rope=0.5
- Total frictional force=0.25*0.5=0.125
- Radius of action=1cm
- Torque generated=0.175kg
- Torque after Factor of safety=0.175*1.5=0.2625kg-cm
- Therefore, selected motor for above calculated torque requirement is 60rpm motor.
Adaptor selection
- For DC Motor
- Voltage required to run DC Motor = 12V
- Current drawn by motor at full load = 300 mA
- Number of DC Motors = 1
- Total current required = 1 * 300 = 300 mA
- Current required after factor of safety of 1.2 = 1.2 * 300 = 360 mA Therefore Adapter required for DC Motor should be rated 12V, 1A.
