6.5 MOTOR AND BATTERY SIZING OF THE SYSTEM

  • DC Motor
  • Total Weight=0.25kg
  • Co-efficient of friction between acrylic sheet and Rope=0.5
  • Total frictional force=0.25*0.5=0.125
  • Radius of action=1cm
  • Torque generated=0.175kg
  • Torque after Factor of safety=0.175*1.5=0.2625kg-cm
  • Therefore, selected motor for above calculated torque requirement is 60rpm motor.

Adaptor selection

  • For DC Motor
  • Voltage required to run DC Motor = 12V
  • Current drawn by motor at full load = 300 mA
  • Number of DC Motors = 1
  • Total current required = 1 * 300 = 300 mA
  • Current required after factor of safety of 1.2 = 1.2 * 300 = 360 mA Therefore Adapter required for DC Motor should be rated 12V, 1A.
