6.5 Motor And Battery Sizing Of The System
We will be using Two DC motor T = Fr= FD /2 where;
T= Torque
F=Force
D= Diameter
F = mg Mass of the kinematic animal=800gm=0.8kg
Diameter of the rotating gear = 0.06m
force = 0.8 × 9.8 =7.84 N
Torque= FD/2= 7.84 × 0.06 /2 =0.235 Nm
Safety factor= 1.5
Final Torque = 1.5 × 0.235 = 0.3525
as we know ; 1 Nm = 10.1971kg - cm
Therefore,
Torque in Kg-cm= 10.1971 x 0.3525 = 3.59 Kg-cm
we'll need a motor of 30Rpm.
6.6 Adapter Sizing
For DC Motor * Voltage required to run DC Motor = 12V
Current drawn by motor at full load = 300 mA
Number of DC Motors = 2
Total current required = 2 * 300 = 600 mA
Current required after factor of safety of 1.2 = 1.2 * 600 = 720 mA
Therefore Adapter required for DC Motor should be rated 12V, 1A.
