Introduction:

A winding machine winds a material such as metal wire, thread, or paper, onto a core, spool, or bobbin. There are several different types of winding machines, from simple manual feed machines to complex computer-numeric-control (CNC) machines. Some of the more common uses for winding machines are coil winding, rope winding, and continuous filament winding.

What is a Thread Winding Machine?

Winding machines are used heavily in textile manufacturing, especially in preparation to weaving where the yarn is wound onto a bobbin and then used in a shuttle. The advances in Automation, has brought innumerous development in various fields especially in textile industries. But the small scale textile industries are unable to make use of the automatic machines for winding the thread due to complexity and the high cost.

Types of Thread Winding Machines:

Manual Thread Winding Machine:

These types of handheld thread winding machines are perfect for small scale production but this machine takes more time and a lot of manual labour.

Semi-Automatic Thread Winding Machine:

The working of this machine is mostly automatic but it requires a little bit of manual labour.

Fully Automatic Thread Winding Machine:

The working of the machine is fully automatic. Even the packing is automatically done by this machine. it displays the speed of the motor and the level of the voltage.

Components Required:

Arduino

It's an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple microcontroller board, and a development environment for writing software for the board. Arduino is best suitable for projects as it can be stand-alone, or they can be communicated with software running on the computer.

Motor

A stepper motor is a brushless DC electric motor that divides a full rotation into a number of equal steps. The motor's position can then be commanded to move and hold at one of these steps without any position sensor for feedback (an open-loop controller), as long as the motor is carefully sized to the application in respect to torque and speed.

Stepper Motor Driver Board
