Description

The Vinemaiden is a genderless, hostile Overworld predator. They spawn buried in the ground and will only pop out when something that they hunt draws near. They will attack Players, Cows, Sheep, Pigs, Goats, Wolves, Pillagers, and Vindicators. The won't target any of the animals in this list if they are full. Vinemaidens will spawn in Meadows, Flower Forests, Swamps, Old Growth Spruce and Pine Taigas, and Mushroom Fields.

Taming

To be tamed, Vinemaidens must meet 3 criteria:

  • They must be currently digesting something
  • They must be under the Glowberry High effect
  • The player must right click them with Bonemeal If all three of these are met, the Vinemaiden will be tamed. From there the player can right click her to cycle between modes of Following, Wandering, and Waiting. Right clicking them with Bonemeal will consume that Bonemeal and generate an item matching their foliage disguiuse (flower/sweet berry/mushroom).

If a player has the Delectable Scent effect and sneak + right clicks a Vinemaiden they have tamed, they will feed themselves to it. Be careful though as they cannot control their acids and will begin to digest you if you do not feed them a Neutralizing Water first.

Reproduction

Once a Vinemaiden reaches its max weight gain state, it can be reproduced using Golden Bone Meal. If the Vinemaiden was not tamed, it can still be reproduced if it has the Glowberry High effect. This will create a Vinemaiden Seedling and shed all of the weight from the Vinemaiden that created it. This will not reset the Vinemaiden's stat gains from gaining weight, but it will not get any more stat increases from gaining weight back.

Variants

Flower

Vinemaiden Vinemaidens can spawn as any flower type that naturally spawns, except for tulips. The biome they spawn in determines what type of flowers they can be disguised as. Meadows and Flower Forests will will spawn Vinemaidens disguised as Poppies, Dandelions, Azure Bluets, Oxeye Daises, and Cornflowers (with Lilies of the Valley only spawning in Flower Forests). Swamps will only spawn Blue Orchid Variants. Any biomes that are not in the Vinemaiden's natural spawning biomes will only spawn Poppy, Dandelion, and Allium variants.

Sweet Berry

Sweet Berry Vinemaiden Vinemaidens that spawn in Old Growth Spruce and Pine Taigas will be disguised as sweet berry bushes. Bonemealing these variants will have them drop Sweet Berries.

Mushroom

Red Mushroom Vinemaiden Vinemaidens that spawn in Mushroom Fields spawn as red or brown mushrooms. Bonemealing them will drop their respective Mushrooms. Vinemaidens of any kind will not hunt Mooshrooms.

Wither Rose

Wither Rose Vinemaiden Vinemaidens, regardless of type, will transform into a wither rose variant if attacked by a Wither. These vinemaidens have a natural 50% damage resistance to attacks from the Wither and are immune to the Wither effect. During October, these Vinemaidens have a 3% chance to spawn naturally.
