Provided Items

Oak Saplings & Watering Can

Pretty self explanatory. The Oak Saplings are there to grow trees and the Watering Can can be used to accelerate plant growth. This will provide wood which is the first resource you will need.

Sink

Infinite water source with buckets. Use this to skip having to wait for rain to get water. Use a bucket on it and it will fill it with water.

Thaumonomicon & Tome of Knowledge Sharing

The Thaumonomicon is your go-to guide for all things Thaumcraft. Here you will be researching new items, blocks and mechanics to help you on your journey. More information on basic Thaumcraft mechanics and how to use the Thaumonomicon can be found in the Thaumcraft Help & Links. The Tome of Knowledge Sharing can be used to share research with your friends. Right click to link it with your research and then have another player right click with it to copy your research. Since this pack revolves around Thaumcraft knowledge it is useful to have all members of your party up to speed without having everyone do their own research.

Thaumometer

The Thaumometer is the first tool a Thaumaturge needs to begin understanding the world around them. Using this you can scan items and blocks to discover what aspects it is made of. More information can be found in the Thaumcraft Help & Links.

Goggles of Revealing

The Goggles of Revealing are glasses made with Thaumometers. While wearing these you will be able to see the aspects contained by certain blocks. This includes the crucible, arcane alembic, warded jars, aura nodes and infusion matrix. For more information see the Thaumcraft Help & Links.

Rosa Mysteria & Mixed Crystal Block

The Rosa Mysteria is a researcher's best friend. This plant, when planted on a Crystal Block, will produce a fragment that can be consumed to gain research aspects. The fragment produced when planted on a Mixed Crystal Block will give 2 of each primal aspect when used. For additional information on aspects and research see the Thaumcraft Help & Links.

Brave New World

The beginning to Thaumic Skies is very similar to other skyblocks. Start by harvesting wood with the provided saplings and make sure to use the watering to accelerate their growth. Veinminer is included in this pack and can be used to chop down an entire tree in one fell swoop. Set the keybind in the controls (Default: GRAVE) and hold it down while breaking a block with an empty hand/tool to break all connected blocks of the same kind.

After you have some wood, make a Crook. This tool will increase the sapling drop rate when breaking leaves and also give a chance for a Silkworm. The Silkworm can infest tree leaves and turn them into infested leaves after some time. These infested leaves have a chance to drop string when broken.

Using the wood and string you have obtained, make a Barrel and a Sieve. The Barrel can be used to compost organic materials into dirt. This dirt can then be sieved to obtain a variety of different items, including seeds, feathers, ink sacs and most importantly stones. Stones can be crafted in a 2x2 to make cobblestone. After obtaining cobblestone, make a Slab Furnace. It is cheaper than a regular furnace in terms of cobblestone and functions exactly the same, which means less sieving for stone.

Next step is to get lava to produce infinite cobblestone. In order to get lava you will need a Ex Nihilo Crucible, which is made with porcelain clay. This requires regular clay and bone meal. Breaking Cobblestone with an Ex Nihilo Hammer will return Gravel. Breaking Gravel with a hammer gives Sand and breaking Sand gives Dust. Using dust on a barrel filled with water will make clay. The bone meal can be obtained by making a mob farm and killing skeletons for their bones. After crafting the unfired crucible, throw it in the furnace to get your Crucible.

The Crucible can be used to melt down cobblestone to lava. Place down the crucible and put a source of heat underneath, like a torch, lava or blazing pyrotheum. Put some cobblestone into it and watch it melt. The hotter the material under the crucible, the faster the contents will melt. Make a clay bucket and fire it in a furnace to move the lava once you have a full bucket. You will need 4 cobblestone per bucket of lava. Note: The clay bucket will break after placing lava.

Now that you have a steady source of cobble, its time to make some Thaumcraft essentials. Breaking compressed cobblestone with a hammer will give an Iron Nugget. Using these you can make a Thaumcraft Crucible and an Iron-Capped Wooden Wand. You will also need a Research Table, which can be made by using Scribing Tools on two adjacent Thaumcraft Tables. If you don't know how to research stuff in the Thaumonomicon see the Thaumcraft Help & Links.

There is a tab in the Thaumonomicon for Thaumic Skies which contains all the ore research. After researching the required notes you will be able to make ores in the crucible with the given recipes. From here you will be able to move on to whatever mod you wish to start first. Also note that glowstone gives lucrum in this pack.
