Forum settings

Log in as admin (with the access data you specified at the installation; the login link is on the top right of the forum main page).
After logging in a link "Admin" should appear. Click on this link to access the admin area.
Click on "Forum settings". A form with the most important configuration settings appears.
After editing the settings click on the "OK - Save settings" button below.

Advanced settings

Below the settings form there's a link "Advanced settings". Following this link you get a form where you can change the values of all setting variables:

access_for_users_only

Whether only registered users have access to the forum (1) or not (0).

access_permission_checks

Whether to perform IP and user agent checks (1) or not (0); do not edit, is set automatically if you specify banned IPs or user agents (since version 2.1).

ajax_preview

AJAX Preview (AJAX Preview) enabled (1) or disabled (0) (since version 2.2).

akismet_check_registered

whether posts by registered users should be checked with Akismet (1=on/0=off, only if akismet_key is set).

akismet_entry_check

Check forum entries for spam with akismet (1=on/0=off, only if akismet_key is set).

akismet_key

Key for the akismet service (Wordpress API Key).

akismet_mail_check

Check email messages for spam with akismet (1=on/0=off, only if akismet_key is set).

auto_delete_spam

Number of hours after spam should be deleted automatically (only if akismet_key is set, 0=disabled).

auto_lock

Number of replies after a thread will be locked automatically (0=disabled).

auto_lock_old_threads

Number of days after a thread will be locked automatically (0=disabled).

autolink

Whether URLs should be replaced by links (1) or not (0).

autologin

Should automatic log in by cookie be available? (1=enabled/0=disabled)

avatar_max_filesize

Maximum filesize of avatar images in KB.

avatar_max_height

Maximum avatar height in px.

avatar_max_width

Maximum avatar width in px.

avatars

Avatars enabled for postings and profiles (2), only for profiles (1) or disabled (0).

bad_behavior

Bad-Behavior spam protection (1=enabled/0=disabled).

bbcode

BB Codes (1=enabled/0=disabled)

bbcode_code

BB Code for code (1=enabled/0=disabled).

bbcode_color

BB Code for text color (1=enabled/0=disabled)

~~bbcode_flash~~

BB Code to insert flash videos (1=enabled/0=disabled; since version 2.1, removed with 20220508.1)

bbcode_img

BB Code for images (1=enabled/0=disabled)

bbcode_size

BB Code for text size (1=enabled/0=disabled)

bbcode_tex

BB Code for TeX formulas. To enable it, specify the URL of a TeX image service (e.g. http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=tx&chl=) (since version 2.2).

captcha_email

CAPTCHA in contact form graphical (2), mathematical (1) or disabled (0).

captcha_posting

CAPTCHA in posting form graphical (2), mathematical (1) or disabled (0).

captcha_register

CAPTCHA in register form graphical (2), mathematical (1) or disabled (0).

cookie_validity_days

Number of days cookies are valid (since version 2.1).

count_users_online

Users online count period in minutes (0=disabled).

count_views

Views counter (1=enabled/0=disabled)

daily_actions_time

Time to perform the "daily actions" (clearing up data etc.); e.g. "3:30" means that the first request after 3:30 AM (server time) will trigger it (since version 2.1).

data_privacy_agreement

whether unregistered users have to agree to the data privacy statement in order to post messages or register

data_privacy_statement_url

URL of the data privacy statement

deep_reply

From which level (number) a reply is handeled as "deep reply" (affects the indentation).

default_email_contact

Whether e-mail addresses of users are contactable (1) or not (0) by default.

delete_ips

Number of hours after IP addresses should be deleted. Note that deleting IPs is done once per day ony so IPs might be saved up to 24 hours even though a smaller value was specified (0 = no deletion).

default_view

default tree structure view (0) or table view (1).

dont_reg_edit_by_admin

Unnoticed edit of entries by admins (1=enabled/0=disabled).

dont_reg_edit_by_mod

Unnoticed edit of entries by moderators (1=enabled/0=disabled).

edit_delay

Number of minutes after a posting will be marked as edited when editing (only if show_if_edited is set to 1).

edit_max_time_period

Maximum time period a posting can be edited.

edit_min_time_period

minimum time period a posting can be edited even if got replies and user_edit_if_no_replies set to 1

email_maxlength

Maximum length of email addresses

email_notification_unregistered

Whether unregistered users can receive e-mail notifications (1) or not (0).

empty_postings_possible

Whether postings without text are possible (1) or not (0).

entries_by_users_only

Whether only registered users can post messages (1) or unregistered users, too (0).

~~flash_default_height~~

default height of flash videos (only if bbcode_flash is enabled; since version 2.1, removed with 20220508.1)

~~flash_default_width~~

default width of flash videos (only if bbcode_flash is enabled; since version 2.1, removed with 20220508.1)

flood_prevention_minutes

how many minutes an IP address is blocked from posting again (0=disabled)

fold_threads

whether the threads are folded (1) or not (0) by default

forum_address

URL of the forum

forum_description

a short description of the forum

forum_disabled_message

message displayed if the forum is disabled

forum_email

forum e-mail address

forum_enabled

whether the forum is enabled (1) or not (0)

forum_readonly

readonly mode enabled (1) or disabled (0)

home_linkaddress

URL of the home link

home_linkname

name of the home link (empty=disabled)

hp_maxlength

maximum number of characters of a homepage address

language_file

name of the language file

last_changes

Timestamp of the last setting changes, do not edit (since version 2.2).

last_reply_link

no function in current version

latest_postings

how many latest postings should be displayed in a list on the index page (0=disabled)

location_maxlength

maximum number of characters in location name

location_word_maxlength

maximum length of a word in the location name

mail_parameter

sets additional_parameters for the php mail() function

~~max_read_items~~

Maximum number of read postings saved in user settings and cookie (since version 2.2, obsolete with version 2.4.3, from 2.4.3 on see read_state_expiration_method and read_state_expiration_value).

min_pw_length

minimum number of characters in passwords

name_maxlength

maximum number of characters in user names

name_word_maxlength

maximum length of words

next_daily_actions

time when the next "daily actions" will be performed (see daily_actions_time); is set automatically, do not edit (since version 2.1)

page_browse_range

range of the page browse navigation

page_browse_show_last

whether the last page should be displayed (1) or not (0) in the page browse navigation

profile_maxlength

maximum number of characters in profiels

quote_symbol

character used as quote symbol

~~read_state_expiration_date~~

Number of days the info about an entry was read by a certain user should be stored (since version 2.4, obsolete with version 2.4.3, from 2.4.3 on see read_state_expiration_method and read_state_expiration_value).

read_state_expiration_method

Method to use for limiting the number of stored info about which entries was read by whom (since version 2.4.3, see also read_state_expiration_value. Possible values:

0: the read status of an entry, read by a specific user, will remain for the life time of the forum
1: number of entries per user (was setting max_read_items before, default value was increased from 200 to 500!)
2: number of days until an entry outdates
3: remove entries in the moment, when a thread gets automatically locked

read_state_expiration_value

Number of days or number of entries for which the info about it was read by a certain user should be stored (since version 2.4.3, see also read_state_expiration_method.

register_mode

whether users can register themselves (0), themselves with admin/mod activation (1) or registration only by admins (2)

remember_last_visit

set cookie with time of last visit to mark new postings (1=enabled/0=disabled)

remember_userdata

function to remember the user data by cookie (1=enabled/0=disabled)

rss_feed

RSS Feeds enabled (1) or disabled (0)

rss_feed_max_items

maximum number of items in RSS Feeds

save_spam

whether to save spam (marked as spam) (1) or not (0) if Akismet is enabled

search_results_per_page

number of search results per page

session_prefix

must be changed if there are several forum installations on the same domain

show_if_edited

Show if a posting was edited (1) or not (0).

signature_maxlength

maximum number of characters allowed in the sugnature

smilies

Smilies (1=enabled/0=disabled)

stop_forum_spam

Whether the spam protection service Stop Forum Spam should be used (1) or not (2)

subject_maxlength

maximum number of characters allowed in the subject

subject_word_maxlength

maximum number of characters of words in the subject

syntax_highlighter

syntax highlighter (1=enabled/0=disabled) (more info)

tags

tags (1=enabled/0=disabled)

tag_cloud
