Convert Units

dB to Linear

Converts logarithmic (dB) units to linear units (mm/s) according to the equation:

v = "=" & v0*10^(dB/20)

Set to convert the row above the selected row by default.

Linear to dB

Converts linear units (mm/s) to logarithmic (dB) units according to the equation:

dB=20*log(v/vref)

Set to convert the row above the selected row by default.

Accel/Vel/Disp Convert

Conversion between displacement, velocity, and acceleration means multiplying or dividing by 2pif the correct number of times. Inserts the multiplier at each frequency band and optionally applies styles.

AS2670

Inserts the vibration criterion curves from AS2670 Evaluation of human exposure to whole-body vibration, in either linear or dB units, along with a multiplier.

Building Vibration

Coupling Loss

Inserts the dB of Coupling Loss for the following building types:

  • Large Masonry On Piles
  • Large Masonry on Spread Footings
  • 2-4 Storey Masonry on Spread Footings
  • 1-2 Storey Commercial
  • Single Residential

Coupling loss values have been obtained from Nelson and have been extrapolated to include frequency bands below 16Hz.
