The Soul Sprout is a food item and fuel source for the Soulspring Lamp.

When consumed, the soul sprout grants the player an effect that decreases their body temperature base by 20. This effect lasts 45 seconds and is indicated by soul particles surrounding the player.

Soul sprouts also replenish 4 fuel each for the soulspring lamp.

Soul sprouts are harvested from soul stalk, which grows natually on soul sand patches in the Nether. The bulb at the top of a stalk always yields a soul sprout, and new stalk segments have a 30% chance to bear additional soul sprouts when the plant grows.

Soul stalk grows most effectively on soul sand in a hot environment. It will grow at maximum efficiency when the local temperature at the base of the stalk is at or above the maximum habitable. Most places in the Nether match these criteria, but lava is also effective if farming in the overworld.
