Introduction

If you reached this article, you probably already know what Mystery Online, MO for short, is. The point of this article is to help you guys installing it step by step. If you follow scrupulously this guide, you should have a perfectly working client. Before we start, you might want to install an extraction program such as Winrar or 7zip, for this tutorial I'm using Winrar.

First step: installing the build

The build is the base program, with this you can run the program pretty easily, with a limited access to characters and locations but it's not so bad.

Windows Build v1.3.4 (01/08/2020): Mega, Google Drive

Now that you downloaded the link, you will get a file called Windows-MysteryOnline-v1.3.0(.zip) You can put it anywhere on your PC. Right-click on the file and click on "Extract here" to extract the folder Mystery Online. Now you can double click on Launcher.exe and it'll start up (it might take some time so be patient, it'll be faster the more you use it)

If you're using Linux or Mac OSX, you can use the following build:

Second step: installing the assets

Now, you can get a few assets, these are all optional, from Characters, to Locations, Music, etc. You will have to download a file and paste it in the Mystery Online folder.

Characters

You can find a list of available characters here. Here are the links of the files:

If there are multiple packs, You should download them in this order, or else it might create some bugs so be careful. After you have downloaded this, you can put it in your character folder (which is in your Mystery Online folder) and extract it in the same manner as the build.

You can also get individual characters from within the client via the DLC function.

Locations

Locations are the places in which you're going to discuss and an important part of Mystery Online. These locations can be accessed via right-click, then Location. Know that each location is the equivalent of a different chatroom and you will not be able to talk to another user, unless you use OOC or PMs. This location contains sublocations that you can choose from just under the character preview. It doesn't do much except changing the background, but it means you won't be on the same background as other users if you change sublocation.

Anyway, we have 15 locations containing a variable amount of sublocations:

Chaldea (FGO), Courtroom (Ace Attorney), Danganronpa, Doom WAD - 8bitDM, Hakuryou (Muv-Luv), Heavenly Host (Corpse Party), Hinamizawa (Higurashi no naku koro ni), LeMu (Ever17), Luna Beach (Never7), Morgana's Mansion (The House in Fata Morgana), Rokkenjima (Umineko no naku koro ni), Shelter (Remember11), Shonan (Tsujidou-san no Jun'ai Road), Verbena (Shuffle!), and Yamato (FGO)

Music list

Mystery Online is quite the heavy program now that we've added all this, don't you agree? That is why we tried to save some space with the music. In fact, you only need a text file, great isn't it?

Just paste it in your Mystery Online folder and replace the previous one and you're good to go! If you're asked to overwrite, then please do.

Sound Effects

Now, what are we missing? The title kind of gave it away but that's exactly what we were missing: sound effects. Now, you already have a few sfx, mainly the blips and found.wav, but there are a whole lot sfx that can be added.

Extract it in the sounds folder, which is itself in the Mystery Online folder. If you're asked to overwrite, then please do.

Conclusion

You now have everything in your possession, you can now enjoy Mystery Online to its fullest!
