In order to participate in the MDS Community you have to have a contract with the MDS in place. If you do not have a signed contract with the MDS yet please get in touch with us through our contact form.

After the contract is in place you are ready to start your data space journey!

Your entry point to the data space is the MDS Portal. In the following chapters you will be guided through the registration process and learn about all of the data spaces functionalities like creating and consuming data offers or getting in contact with members of the MDS Community.

Registering on the MDS Portal

There are two options for registering on the MDS Portal:

  • Self-registration: Navigate to the MDS Portal and click on the Button Register Organization.
  • Invitation: Receive an E-Mail-invitation from the MDS to join the Portal.

Self-registration

To register your organization, click on Register Organization in the MDS Portal and follow the registration process. ** ADD SCREENSHOT ** During this process, you will be asked to provide information about your organization and the user who will be the organizations representative. After you have finished entering the user and organization details, you will receive a verification email including the finalization of your account by setting up a two-factor authentication. Once received, click on the verification link in the email and wait for your organization to be approved or rejected by the MDS. You will receive a notification via E-Mail.

Invitation

The MDS can invite you via E-Mail to the MDS Portal. The invitation is send to the organization representative and includes a link to the registration process.

User Management

A participant of the MDS has one of the following roles:

  • User: The basic role that allows a person to open multiple participant related sections in the MDS Portal, but basically cannot change anything.
  • Key User: The role allows creating and editing connectors for the user's organization.
  • Admin: Can additionally manage users, invite new users and deactivate existing users.

When you register an organization you are automatically assigned the role Admin. This role allows you to invite your colleagues to the MDS Portal. To send an invitation navigate to Users & Roles and click on Invite user. ** ADD SCREENSHOT ** Once you have filled out the mask and send the invitation the user will receive an E-Mail with a registration link. This link is valid for 12 hours. If the user does not activate their account within this period, they will be automatically removed from the organization's user list. If needed, a new invitation can be sent.

You can see your assigned role in your profile. Therefor click on the icon in the top right corner and navigate to My Profile. ** ADD SCREENSHOT **

You are able to edit your information by maneuvering to your profile and clicking on Edit. First name, last name, job title, email and phone number can be updated. Changes persisted by clicking Update.

Navigating the MDS Portal

Data Catalogue

The Data Catalogue shows data offers from members of the MDS. You can search and filter for data offers by using the search bar or the filter options on the right. Depending on your preference you can view the data offers either in a list or grid view. For more detailed information about a data offer simple click the corresponding offer. ** ADD SCREENSHOT **

Environments

As you may have noticed there are two environments available: the test and prod (which is short for productive) environment. The purpose of the test environment is to give you a playground
