Using a WINWING FCU with MobiFlight

  1. Download and install MobiFlight. You will need Mobiflight version 10.3.0 or later.

That's it! MobiFlight 10.3.0 or later has the support for the Winwing FCU already built in. It will show the Winwing FCU as a joystick device in the available devices dropdown menus, when you create new input or output configs. As any other external joystick, Mobiflight will not list the Winwing FCU in the Mobiflight Modules dialog window. External joysticks are not Mobiflight Modules.

Using existing profiles

Need a profile for your plane? Check flightsim.to for mcc profiles that work with many popular MSFS2020 planes.

All mcc files contain the original serial number of the devices used. For this reason, the first time you open one of the downloaded mcc profiles in MobiFlight you will need to assign your new WINWING FCU serial number to the existing configuration. MobiFlight will show you a dialog like this when the profile is opened:

A screenshot of a warning from MobiFlight saying a joystick in the config is referenced but not connected.

Press OK on the dialog. You will then get a dialog like this:

A screenshot of the MobiFlight orphaned serials dialog showing a WINWING device in the orphaned list and a WINWING device in the connected module dropdown.

Click on the old WINWING serial number device in the upper list, then select your found WINWING device serial number from the dropdown next to the Assign button. Then click Assign and save your updated config file.

Making your own profiles

Want to learn how to make your own profiles? Watch the MobiFlight getting started video on YouTube, just skip the part about configuring an Arduino device. Your WINWING will automatically show up when making a new input or output config.

Troubleshooting

If the following troubleshooting steps don't help start a Discord support thread in the #mobiflight, #msfs2020, or #xplane channel.

  • Got a yellow warning indicator for modules in the bottom left status bar of MobiFlight? Ignore it, that warning only applies to Arduino devices.
  • Simulator not responding to your inputs on the WINWING FCU? Make sure to press Run or enable AutoRun in the MobiFlight toolbar.
  • Simulator still not responding after selecting Run or AutoRun? Make sure you followed the steps to assign your WINWING device to the profile you downloaded.
  • Trying to use an existing profile and getting prompted about a missing device? Follow the steps in the animated image on the page you downloaded the profile from, then save your profile.
  • Not seeing the WINWING FCU in the dropdown of the orphaned joysticks dialog? This means MobiFlight can't see your WINWING FCU. Make sure it has the latest firmware installed and that you don't have SIMAPP PRO isn't running. Also try rebooting your computer.
