Breeding - Mnesikos/SimplyCats GitHub Wiki

Breeding is quite simple, so simple that you don't have to manually initiate it! As long as cats meet the following requirements, they will breed on their own;

  • Female cats: adult, not spayed, in heat.
  • Male cats: adult, not neutered, not on a cooldown.
  • Cats should not exceed the maximum cat limit in a 16-block-radius, default limit is 20 cats.
  • Cats must be within 16 blocks of each other.
  • Cats must not be sitting.
  • If cats are tamed, their owner must not be offline nor exceed their maximum tamed cats limit, default is unlimited.

A female cat can breed with multiple male cats until her heat ends or she reaches 6 kittens. If multiple successful breedings occur, the number of kittens able to be rolled each time gets smaller - limiting the total kittens possible in that one litter.

Every breed attempt may not be a success (25% chance to fail). Upon the first successful breeding attempt, a few things can happen:

  • a random roll of 1-6 kittens is initiated
  • if 6 is rolled, the mom’s heat ends and the pregnancy timer begins
  • if < 6 is rolled, there is a 25% chance the mom’s heat still ends and the pregnancy timer begins
  • or the mom’s heat time continues without interrupting, allowing more breeding attempts until either 6 total kittens are rolled, her heat timer ends naturally, or the 25% chance each time her heat ends early returns true.

Once the kittens are born they will follow the closest adult cat (plans are to change this so they only follow their mother). Kittens will inherit their mother’s tame status, owner, and home point. If a pregnant cat's owner reaches their maximum tamed cats limit, any kittens born will NOT be tamed and likely will wander off!
