- Key icon with a number greater than -1, if subscribed. The key pasted is valid and not expired.
- Start or Stop

Witness protection is a feature provided by Silmaril that changes the character names of your local FFXI clients. The uses for this feature are many, but a few of the intended uses are:
- Streaming anonymity
- Screenshot anonymity
...and basically any other time where you are sharing information about your gameplay and wish to keep your character names anonymous.
It is important to understand that this feature only changes values on your local client. Other players will see the real names of players and linkshells. |
Changing Your Names
As shown in the screenshot above, enter your real character names in the left-hand column and their new names in the right-hand column.
Randomizing Others' Names
The "Randomize Names" checkbox in the Witness Protection panel will enable the randomization of other player names.
Dress Up
If you use the DressUp addon to change your character appearance even further, you can enable the "Reload Dress Up / Settings on zone" checkbox to automatically re-apply your DressUp settings when you zone.
Enabling Witness Protection
Configure your desired settings under Global > Protection and then restart your Silmaril client.
Silmaril is able to store character configuration files so that you can load them for use later without needing to manually reconfigure each time.
Default Profiles
Each character can have a default profile stored that is loaded automatically when the Silmaril executable launches by saving a character's character configuration to the Settings folder for each unique job combination.
