To use a sniffer in Packet Tracer you:

• Disconnect the connection between the end device and the router
• Drag 'Sniffer' from the End Devices section onto your work area
• Connect the end device to the sniffer and the sniffer to the router
• Generate traffic to and from that PC for the sniffer to inspect
• Click on the sniffer then click on the GUI window to look at the traffic that was recorded
• Click on the protocol you want to examine further
