Commands

trvl ships 57 commands covering flights, hotels, ground transport, rental cars, trip planning, price watches, travel hacks, and destination intel. Most search commands accept --currency <CODE> for price conversion and --format json for scripting. Run trvl --help for the complete list; the most-used commands are below.

The CLI hotel commands are discovery and drill-down surfaces. In MCP clients, use search_accommodations for traveller-facing stay recommendations; it verifies room/apartment criteria before ranking offers.

trvl prices may declare a source-level caution ceiling when seller cancellation terms are unavailable. That ceiling is separate from property-specific reasons. trvl rooms can reach ready when a room offer has exact identity, a durable seller URL, and explicit refundability.

The v1.21 migration backs up the old JSON files, then moves watches and history to ~/.trvl/watch.db. If a configured retention limit is lower than the stored history, points above the limit are removed during migration.

The first setting prevents reads from installed browser sessions and prevents trvl from opening the user's browser. Protected hotel and rail sources rely on those sessions, so disabling access can materially reduce results. The second prevents trvl from starting an installed browser with an empty profile when a challenged source needs fresh cookies. That headless path reads no existing session, opens no window, and takes no focus. Visible-browser recovery is separate, provider-specific, and opt-in.
