Locomotive Storage - Migsect/Pathfinder-Homebrew-References GitHub Wiki
Most locomotives require some sort of resource to operate correctly and for longer periods of time, the locomotives require more storage for these resources.
Solid Fuel
Solid fuels include ones such as coal and firewood. These are generally stored in a hopper near the back of a train which can be shoveled into the furnace. The furnace has a buffer for storing burning fuel, however more fuel should be on hand for shoveling into the furnace. For large amounts of fuel, a tender is generally used to supply additional storage.
Some control systems have Mechanical Stokers which use a mechanism to automatically stoke the furnace of the engine.
Size | Storage (fuel) | Size | Cost |
---|---|---|---|
Small | 500-lbs | 1-Square | 10 gp |
Medium | 1500-lbs | 2-Squares | 25-gp |
Large | 4000-lbs | 4-Squares | 50-gp |
Liquid Water
Water is can used in cooling an engine or as a means of transferring work from a burning fuel to pistons. A locomotive engine can only have one storage tank.
Size | Storage (water) | Cost |
---|---|---|
Small | 10000-gal | 50 gp |
Medium | 16000-lbs | 100-gp |
Large | 24000-lbs | 150-gp |
Liquid Fuel
Liquid fuel generally takes the form of Alchemist’s Fire and due to its volatile nature must be stored in a protective container. Luckily, if a locomotive is fitted with a liquid fuel container, it does not have to be fed that fuel manually.
Liquid Fuel tanks only come in one size, but multiple may be purchased.
Size | Storage (Fuel) | Size | Cost |
