Managerial forms - Michael-D-Preston/PrestonLab GitHub Wiki
By Angus Ball
Introduction
Transitioning to the lab there will be a variety of forms to fill out and classes to take to be fully up to date.
Key card access
To get access to the lab you will need to request key-card access using this form. Or this one if the first one didn't work.
You'll need access to the lab itself:
- lab (4-403)
- lab (4-409)
You may want access to the:
- The Greenhouse (EFL) Note: Doug will have to approve all EFL access requests
- The autoclave (4-211)
- The Liquid Nitrogen room (4-120)
Field work
To do field work you'll need to fill out a safety form and vehicle request form that can be found here
Autoclave access
To get autoclave access you'll need to complete PHAC autoclave course online, then email your certificate to [email protected]. After which you can take a quick in-person training course with the current safety office, and then will you be able to have autoclave access. NOTE: we are getting a new autoclave soon so this may change slightly.
Mailing lists and safety course
To work in the lab you'll also need to get a CHEM safety certification. This course is different than any teaching lab chem safety certification and is offered intermittently once or so a semester. To receive updates about the scheduling of this, and other important graduate lab updates please subscribe to the unbc labs mailing list.
You may also be interested in the HPC-users (high profile computing) mailing list depending on your work.
To add yourself to a mailing list please go here, note this does give me a safety link warning but its safe.
