SNAGROAR is the official operating rulebook of the Appalachia Northern Railroad (APPN).

Units of Measure

SNAGROAR uses player scale for all measurements and calculations. Player Scale is defined as follows:

1 Hammer Unit (Source Unit) = 1 Inch

That means 1 foot = 12 Inches = 12 Hammer Units.

Speeds are expressed in Miles per Hour (MPH).

1 MPH = 17.6 Hammer Units per Second.

Additionally, you can convert from World Scale to Player Scale by applying conversion factors. Distances and Speeds using a "Real world" unit (Inches, Feet, MPH, Etc.) uses a factor of 3/4 (or 4/3). For Example,

1 Inch (Player Scale) = 3/4 (0.75) Inches (World Scale)
1 Inch (World Scale) = 4/3 (1.3333) Inches (Player Scale)
1 MPH (Player Scale) = 3/4 (0.75) MPH (World Scale)

Distance in Hammer Units does not require a conversion factor, because Hammer Units are the base unit for both scales.

1 Hammer Unit (Player Scale) = 1 Hammer Unit (World Scale)
