SW600 - MagnumMacKivler/RLCPT2 GitHub Wiki

a rare one! Arizona Public Service Company's one and only SW600 at Joseph City, Arizona. C&NW was the only Class 1 to buy the SW600. Photo credit Craig Garver

The SW600 was the successor to the SW1. Released as part of the revised 567 line in late 1953, the SW600 served the astonishingly niche purpose of being a lighter, weaker SW900. Only 15 were built between 1953 and 1962; it was offered until 1966, when the 645 line finally got its own switchers.
