The RSD-4, introduced in early 1951, was ALCO's first 6-motor road switcher offering since the RSD-1 and the predecessor to the RSD-5. Essentially an RS-3 with two extra motors, the RSD-4 was quite durable and had it's kinks worked out once you put an Alco designed turbo on it. Though it had very low production numbers (mostly due to it quickly being superseded by the RSD-5 for reasons unknown), one remains in preservation on static display.
