The RSD-17 was the MLW counterpart to the RSD-15, however, unlike other MLW locomotives such as the RS-18, the only major difference between the two were MLW's signature notchless hoods. The demonstrator ended up being the only one produced, eventually ending up on the CP and being donated to a museum at the end of its life.
