The P32AC-DM is a 3,200HP dual mode locomotive designed and built for Amtrak and Metro-North. The P32AC-DM was designed as the operational replacement for the EMD FL-9 dual-mode locomotive, designed for exclusive use in the tunnels of Grand Central, and Penn Station. This locomotive is the first locomotive to feature the "Genesis" carbody, designed to fit every clearance on the Amtrak system. The P32AC-DM can run from either 600V DC or 750V DC. However, despite being designed for dual-mode use, this locomotive can only run in electric mode for 10-15 minutes. (Photo Credit to Greg Grice)
