M640 - MagnumMacKivler/RLCPT2 GitHub Wiki

The M640 was the 4000 horsepower offering on the M-Line's six-axle universal chassis, Alco/MLW's attempt at standardizing their different models of locomotive. At the time it was the most powerful single engine production locomotive out there, having four hundred horsepower over it's nearest competitor, the SD45; As a side effect, along with the fact it was an Alco based product, railroads were very hesitant to buy them, ending production with only one unit built for Canadian Pacific. Thankfully, due to CP's tendency to donate locomotives, the single M640 produced today exists at ExpoRail Canada.
