M636 - MagnumMacKivler/RLCPT2 GitHub Wiki

The M636 was the 3600 horsepower offering on the M-Line's six-axle universal chassis, Alco/MLW's attempt at standardizing their different models of locomotive. As the mid-range offering, it saw many sales from Canadian and Australian railroads; Even though it was the most produced of all the M-Line it had one significant flaw, insufficient cooling, causing a few railroads to downrate them in their first lives. In the current day, there are many M636s left in revenue service, being one of the most powerful units an Alco/MLW shortline can buy.
