The LT-2400 was a transfer locomotive of similar design to the double-ended Baldwin transfer diesel. The base for the slightly more powerful LT-2500 and a refinement of Lima's 2200 hp Transfer Unit design, it was technically built as the LT-2500; since the electrical and parasitic loads were shared between the engines (each engine only drove one electric blower for example) the extra 100 horsepower was functionally free. In either case, no Lima transfer units including the LT-2500s survived.
